Quilting with my daughter

It is amazing how much energy young folks have....  My daughter is 34 and pregnant.  She has three friends she is making baby quilts for.  She came on a Sunday at noon with the fabric.  She cut strips. I sub cut.. we began to sew. On Monday We sewed ironed, pinned...and then repeated.  We work well together. In my sewing room there are two separate spaces. She handled the cutting pinning ironing, I did the sewing. I didn't take a photo of the completed quilt as she is  particular as to what makes it up on the net.  She designed a simple modern motif using a dove gray, intense yellow acid green , and a very interesting avocado green/brown.  It looks woven.   In between, she worked at her job and I made supper.  The top was done by 2 pm Monday.

I am lucky she chooses to quilt. She has a graphic design degree and her quilts are always one of kind.

It is the last day of February: almost time for  the Prairie Moon block count... last day of February and I am over 170... My goal is 200 blocks done by sundown. Made 182

March 4rth Sunday...  Sunny with the promise of some melting.   In the quilt room I have been pounding out 1/2 square blue/whites... some 4 patches and a lot of 9 patches for the 9 patch challenge.

Being drawn back to the Alaskan quilt.

The Joys of marden's discount

A small group of friends are partaking in a road trip each month to three "Down East fabric stores.  They are all on on close to. MDI where the Acadia National Park is situated. It is call "The Hancock County Ice Derby".  Yesterday, en route, we stopped into Marden's discount store in Ellsworth. The fabric area was quiet and the woman working the cutting table was very knowledgable.  I entered the area and said " Where's the sale fabric?" She took me there.  There was some 2.00 a yard fabric. There were some really nice fabrics I had seen on the Hancock of Padukah site.

I got six yards of a nice fabric appropriate for the back of a Childs quilt.  I will photograph it...

Two dollars. man oh man. The fabric is well woven and has a soft finish...  We bought fabric at all the fabric stores.

Storm coming tomorrow....   First block of Northern lights by Eliz. Hartman done.

I am past 60 blocks for the 350 block challenge and it is only the 12th.

Art Quilts Maine had a great meeting  on ways to display or present small quilted pieces for hanging.

I need to sort out and list my UFO's and give some away.

Photos soon.
