With the best of intentions I went to the sewing room to clean. Instead I sewed...

Prarie Moon's final count down

Wow, it is a relief to know others have great piles o fabric.  The challenge is to get your fabric more organized.

Before shots of the disaster zone...

there is a flamingo on the floor...

Before.  Looking makes me realize I do 1/2 the space at a time for cleaning I can clearly see which half needs help

Lawn Turkeys

Some folks have Lawn Flamingos. I have three, given as a joke , by my daughter. They are out all year in rather unique places around our home.  We dress them up in little santa hats and scarfs for the Holidays.  However yesterday  our local rafter of turkeys came on over to eat fallen apples. They are a healthy passel of birds...my LAWN Turkeys...

Snow on the Oak leaves

Each morning when I get up I peer out our door. It has a huge glass window so you get a clear view of the weather. Today there is snow on the leaves strewn on the gravel path.  Looking further out there is snow on the cars.

The season has nearly turned...

Recently the paper person has walked our paper to the door. Not sure why, but it really makes getting the paper a lot nicer.

I have been quilting as much as I can.  More of the microwave bowl cosys. A small lap quilt for donation. A large black and bright Amish feel top.

I went to a friends and made binding and pillow cases while she long armed a large twin with the weird circle center.

in TWEEN

I remember an old term tweening.... when you animated a simple vector on a computer. I feel I am tweening.  One week back from a quilt retreat, one day away from an 8 day visit to North Carolina.
I have never been to Carolina, so it surely will be an adventure.

Freezing outside

The thermometer in the green house says -3. That would be with out the wind chill, which is pretty bitter as the dog and I will a test.  I can't read the regular outdoor thermometer because it is covered with snow. The water is dripping to hopefully keep us in water.

I finished the quilt carrier yesterday, and brought home some fabric from a friend to back a donation quilt. Free fabric is lovely.

Happy Valentine's day to you all.

You may be right, I may be crazy, but I just may be the lunitic you're looking for...

I looked out over my next 7 days and I am one busy retired person. I just turned down an offer to go help an old friend teach Batik. But there was NO time.

I am also trying to complete Prairie Moon Quilts Creativity challenges. I am behind on four of them.  They are intended to engage your mind ... they have. I will post images when they are done.

We had a snow storm yesterday. After several days of 40-51 degree weather I found 10 inches of the white stuff a pain. The dog was in it to his belly... which makes going to the bathroom an adventure...

The photos are from early in the day.

Saturday State meeting

The state wide meeting in Maine (Pine Tree Quilters Guild)was held yesterday.   It was  a lovely ride, with a dusting of snow on the trees making it look like we were riding through a Christmas card!  There were over 125 people at the meeting. This was a great turn out for January in Maine.

The trunk show was by Margret Solomen Gunn, a really amazing Maine based show quilter.   Her pieced, appliqued and  richly long armed quilts were amazing.

Thumping Thursday

One week later. Well I  have  5 (out of 8)of the panels completed on the second set of tree skirts.  The days are getting longer and I find my self drifting away from the Holiday themed items.  I fell into the pile of triangles and got the front of a triangle quilt completed. I used 35 cent per yard fabric  to back it. It is in between the walking foot and sewing machine now with all the blues quilted. Blurry photo below..Done!!!

Hmmm I made a backing ala Bev with the weird train fabric.

I must be insane

I lured a friend over to make another tree skirt. I am glad I did, because she pointed out my sweet niece had turned the ruler the wrong way and there are 3 extra units with out their mates...

We started a second set of skirts with the strips de-refuse'  from the previous tree skirt.... Back to the sweat shop er sewing room to sew.
